Single Tooth Implant

Chalet Hill Dental & Implants have been successfully placing dental implants in our dental practice in Bordon, near Farnham, Hampshire, for many years.

Replacing a missing or failing tooth with a single tooth implant could be the best solution for you and has significant benefits over alternative options. Single dental implants are favoured by patients due to their advantages; being permanent, more long lasting, comfortable and natural looking.

Why choose a dental implant for one missing tooth?

  • Many patients tell us gaps in their teeth can affect how they eat and chew. They often have to avoid their favourite foods, eg. steak or corn on the cob.
  • Missing teeth/tooth can effect speech.
  • An empty space in the mouth can lead to the movement of other teeth.
  • Dental implants can prevent bone loss. This is because it is necessary to chew for the jaw to be stimulated and stay strong, and if the chewing function is impaired due to missing teeth, the bone may eventually start to waste away. The face, without the support of the teeth and bones, can gradually begin to age prematurely. A dental implant filling the space will help prevent this happening.
  • A missing tooth can also make you self-conscious and unwilling to smile naturally, thus affecting your self-esteem.

A dental implant gives you the perfect replacement, without affecting any of your healthy teeth.

How is a tooth implant placed?

  • A titanium post is placed in to the jaw-bone to replace the roots of the missing tooth.
  • The implant is given time to integrate into the bone, which can take a few months.
  • During the integration period, a temporary tooth is fitted, so the post is never visible. This means you are not left with a visible gap or a visible post during any stage of your treatment. We will discuss your options for filling these gaps with you at your assessment.
  • After the titanium post has integrated, a permanent, custom-made crown is screwed directly onto it.
  • This custom-made crown will look, feel and function just like one of your own teeth. It will be carefully colour matched. You simply have to clean it using standard tooth-brushing and flossing techniques.

There is no reason a successful, well-maintained implant should not last a very long time, if not a lifetime. The titanium structure and design of the implants we use are especially strong to withstand the forces of chewing, so that you can eat all of your favourite foods with confidence.

How much do dental implants cost?

Dental implants are not usually available on the NHS. Dental implants might be available on the NHS in very exceptional circumstances, check with us if you think you might qualify.

The cost of treatment will vary, depending on how many implants you’re having and the complexity of the treatment. Your dentist will be able to give you a good indication of the cost once you’ve come in for a consultation and your suggested individual treatment plan has been worked out.

It’s worth noting that because implants are a long-term solution with many benefits, they tend to cost more than other options for replacing teeth, and correspondingly the benefits are likely to last a lot longer.
